To celebrate the season of jack ‘o’ lanterns and pumpkin spice, I found a discovery from a few years ago where astronomers used data from NASA’s Kepler and Swift missions, along with ground-based observations, to find a batch of rapidly rotating stars that spin so fast they’ve been squashed into a pumpkin shape.
